Bellestar aka Bellstar

Bred for short season areas, it is a fairly early tomato. The fruit are an unusual, slightly squared off round shape. They are usually around 4 oz; a pretty nice size for processing. The determinate plants can easily be grown in a container but will definitely need staking because they are very productive. Flavor is pretty good raw but even better processed.

Story:

It was bred in Ontario, at the Smithfield Experimental Farm in 1981, by Jack Metcalf. The aim was a determinate processing tomato for short season areas.
