Black Beauty

Absolutely incredible looking tomato, the skin is almost black when unripe and stops you in your tracks in the garden. Flesh is a deep red and when the levels of anthocyanin are high, the black even bleeds into the flesh making for stunning slices. When the fruit ripens, they usually develop some purpley red color underneath. You might need to determine ripeness by touch – there will be a little give when ripe. Flavor is really good – rich and quite addictive. That rich flavor transfers well to sauces. Fruit size is medium – usually 4-8+ oz and they are nice and meaty. They also hold well after picking. Brad Gates has come up with another winner! One of our favorite tomatoes.
