Cherokee Green

Considered by many to be the best of the Green When Ripes, Cherokee Green bears irregular shaped green beefsteaks. Flesh inside is also green. They will develop an amber blush starting at blossom end when they ripen. They are a nice size, weighing 8-12 oz. Plants are vigorous and have good production right up until frost. One reviewer picks all his green ones at frost time and pickles them.

Story:

Craig Lehoullier found this green tomato growing in his garden in 1997 from Cherokee Chocolate seeds grown by Darrell Merrell of OK. It has been stabilized and continues to grow green fruit. It could possibly be a mutation as many people think it tastes just like Cherokee Purple but others think it tastes a little different and actually like it better than Cherokee Purple. You will have to try them to decide. icon_smile.gif
