Dixiewine

This is a wonderful red beefsteak with awesome old fashioned flavor. It is a cross of Brandywine and Neves Azorean Red so you know it’s going to taste great. Nice large fruit, classic beefsteak shape and good production. It is a little later to mature but very well worth growing for the flavor.

Story:

This was a cross done by the one and only Bill Jeffers – breeder extraordinary - of Brandywine and Neves Azorean Red back in 2006. He gave seed to Tom Micholas who gave seed the next year to Ray Newstead (of Earthtainer fame) who grew out for a couple of years and gave seed to Marianne Jones who stabilized it in Dickson, TN. (Almost makes you dizzy). With the help of Bill, she named it Dixiewine.

Here’s a link of Bill describing how it was done.  link
