Homestead 24

A very nice red tomato that has great production. Fruit are very consistent in size (7-10 oz) and shape. They are firm and meaty. It seems to set fruit under a lot of conditions which makes it popular. It is more of a semi-determinate than a determinate as it continues to bear fruit for quite a while.

Story:

An old commercial variety from Asgrow Seed Co in New Hampshire in 1956. It was a stabilized selection from Homestead - another old one that had complicated parentage – (Victor x Dobbies Champion) x Pan American x Rutgers). Some of these old open pollinated tomatoes are really nice and this is one of them.
