Mushroom Basket

Mushroom Basket is probably one of the most stunning tomatoes I have grown. It is deeply pleated and the color is a reddish pink with cream colored speckles. It is shiny and almost glows. The fruit can get very large (8-16 oz), are firm and have very few seeds. Very pretty slices. The flavor is more on the sweeter side. The plant itself is an indeterminate and definitely needs staking to support the weight of the fruit.

Story:

It appears to be an old Russian commercial variety. Remember, many of their old commercial varieties are open pollinated and actually come from home gardeners and they were developed for home gardeners - not commercial production. This was introduced to American gardeners by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds in 2010.  The original Russian name is Gribnoe Lukoshko.
