Rinaldo

I am always searching for heirloom seeds with MI history so was glad to find this one. This nice large paste tomato has a wonderful sweet flavor with depth. It has even won taste testing awards. Really, a paste tomato won the best tasting award! The fruits range from 6-16 oz. They vary in width with a meaty texture yet still have enough juice to eat fresh. Plants are vigorous with very good yields.

Story:

Robert Fromm of Royal Oak, MI had a neighbor, Francesca, who was known for her tomato sauce. Her husband Rinaldo immigrated from Italy in 1947 and carried the seeds to this tomato with him along with another variety, Ernesto. These two varieties have been their favorites for over 60 years.
