From Tatiana’s TOMATObase

Introduced by Ben Quisenberry, Ohio. Ben Quisenberry's grandson said that the original Stump of the World was regular leaf and it was renamed by Ben as 'did not like the name' (see [1] for more details) It is possible that what we know today as a potato leafed Stump of the World is not the same as the original Stump of the World that Ben Quisenberry had in his seed collection.Another theory is that this variety was named by Ben Quisenberry after a bible reference, as Ben was a very religious man. The speculation is that the 'Stump' being referred to is the stump or root of Jesse in the bible.
